Thayatal National Park

Steep forested river valley on Austria's border with the Czech Republic

The Thaya cuts a breakthrough valley with steep hillside forests through Lower Austria, flowing around a gneiss mountain. It sits on the climatic boundary between the Waldviertel and the Weinviertel, so the smallest national park in Austria holds half of the country's plant species.
