Schiermonnikoog National Park

Dunes, salt marshes, tidal flats and beaches on a car-free Frisian island

Schiermonnikoog National Park covers most of a Dutch island in Friesland, where sand drifting, erosion and sedimentation still shape a tidal landscape of dunes, forests, marshes and beaches. Visitors cannot use cars, which makes it one of the best protected Dutch national parks.
