Saltfjellet–Svartisen National Park

Glaciers, alpine plateaux and birch valleys straddling the Arctic Circle in Nordland

Svartisen, Scandinavia's second-largest glacier at roughly 370 square kilometres, fills the southwestern corner of a park that runs from the Nordfjorden coast to open tundra. Calcareous bedrock gives Saltfjellet a particularly diverse flora, and Sámi reindeer husbandry continues within the boundaries.
