Padjelanta National Park

Open fell plateau around two huge lakes in Swedish Lapland

Padjelanta is a wide, rolling plateau above the tree line, built around the unusually large lakes Vastenjávrre and Virihávrre. Its name comes from the Lule Sami Badjelánnda, "the higher land", and its chalk-rich bedrock supports over 400 lower plant species.

1VirihávrreOften called "the most beautiful lake in Sweden".
2VastenjávrreOne of the park's two very large lakes, densely populated with fish.
