Nestos Delta and lakes Vistonida-Ismarida National Park

Floodplain forest, lagoons and lakes around the Nestos river in northern Greece

The Nestos river breaks through limestone mountains in a meandering gorge at Toxotes, then spreads into a delta of floodplain forest, lagoons, spits and dunes. Together with lakes Vistonida and Ismarida, it is a resting place for migrating birds.
