Monfragüe National Park

Cliffs, oak pasture and vulture colonies along the River Tagus in Extremadura

Monfragüe follows the River Tagus (Tajo) through a mountain ridge, where the rock face of Peña Falcón holds a large griffon vulture colony. Holm oak and cork oak woodland and open dehesa surround the cliffs and shelter the world's largest colony of cinereous vultures, with over 300 pairs.
