Lemmenjoki National Park

Wilderness river valley, fells and mires in Finnish Lapland

The Lemmenjoki River runs through a roadless wilderness of old pine forest, fell birch, aapa and palsa mires and treeless fell tops. Gold has been dug here since the 1940s rush, and hand panning still continues.
