Hossa National Park

Lakes, pine ridges and ancient rock paintings in Suomussalmi, northern Finland

Hossa is a landscape of about 130 lakes and ponds, separated by ridges shaped by the Ice Age and covered mostly in pine forest. Värikallio's 4,000-year-old rock paintings on the shore of Somerjärvi add a human layer to the wilderness.
