Lagoon, pine woods and pelican colonies on Albania's Adriatic coast

Karavasta Lagoon, among the largest in the Mediterranean, is cut off from the Adriatic by a long sandy bar with pine trees and small sandy islands. It holds the only coastal breeding site of the Dalmatian pelican along the Adriatic and Ionian Sea.
