De Groote Peel National Park

Peat bog, lakes and sand ridges on the Limburg and North Brabant border

De Groote Peel preserves one of the last largely raised bogs in the Netherlands that remains uncultivated, with peat swamps, lakes, heath and sand ridges. Its swamp and lakes were created by peat cutting, and it is one of the most bird-rich areas in Western Europe.
