De Biesbosch National Park

Freshwater tidal wetlands of creeks and willow forest in the western Netherlands

The Biesbosch is a web of rivers and creeks with islands, one of the last extensive freshwater tidal wetlands in Northwestern Europe. Willow forests, reed fields and wet grasslands cover it, and it is especially important for migrating geese.

1Hollandse BiesboschThe westernmost part of the park, best known for its birds.
2Sliedrechtse BiesboschThe northern part, with the strongest tides and an intact system of river dunes.
3Brabantse Biesbosch (Zuidwaard)The eastern and largest part, with mostly willow forest and fewer reed fields.
