Butrint National Park

Ancient ruins, lagoon and wetlands on Albania's far southern Ionian coast

Butrint's Roman theatre, Lion Gate and baptistery stand in evergreen woodland on a peninsula between Lake Butrint and the Vivari Channel. The park pairs these ruins from the Iron Age to the Middle Ages with reed beds, salt marshes and the Ksamil islands.
