Bieszczady National Park

Beech forests and treeless połoniny ridges in Poland's far southeast corner

Bieszczady National Park covers the highest areas of the Polish Bieszczady Mountains, where beech forest climbs to bare grassy ridges called połoniny. It is sparsely populated, with fewer than 1 person per km2, and the ruins of depopulated villages still stand.

1Połonina WetlińskaThe park's main tourist magnet, a former pasture with wide views over the valleys.
